We just got back from an amazing week in Grand Cayman. After the longest Newfoundland winter, we were in serious need of sun and sand. We had visited Grand Cayman almost exactly seven years ago on our very first trip as a couple in 2011. I graduated university and we spent a couple weeks in Florida and took a week long cruise on Royal Caribbean’s ship Freedom of the Seas. One of our stops was Grand Cayman and we fell in love with the stunning Seven Mile Beach. Since then we have visited 8 different places in the Caribbean but Grand Cayman is still our top choice! We decided this year we would finally head back and spend a week exploring our favourite Caribbean destination.

Where to Stay Grand Cayman
We spent one week on beautiful Seven Mile Beach in a condo we rented on VBRO. As with our previous VBRO and Airbnb (use this link to save $45 off your first Airbnb rental) experiences, this one was excellent. I am a huge fan of renting a condo or house versus a hotel as you have access to a full kitchen. While I love eating out and trying new things on vacation I also like to be able to make some meals myself. I don’t like eating out for every single meal as it’s not healthy plus you save money if you stock your kitchen and make some meals yourself!
Our Condo Amenities
Our condo had a full kitchen, living room, bedroom and a loft with two single beds. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook for the week. There were two balconies on either side of the condo, where we enjoyed breakfast every morning. The view from each of the balconies wasn’t great, we were overlooking parking lots on either side. That is pretty much the only complaint I have about the condo, however, Seven Mile Beach was literally a 1 minute walk away so we got over it pretty quick. The complex itself has a pool, barbecue and laundry facilities as well. The condo air conditioning was icy cold which was amazing because it was HOT while we were there. We slept amazing in the king size bed because of the air conditioning keeping us nice and cool!
Location
As mentioned the condo we stayed in has beach access and is a 1 minute walk to Seven Mile Beach. The most stunning beach I have ever visited. We visited several beaches around Grand Cayman, however, the snorkelling on the beach right in front of the condo complex was the best. We saw everything there! All sorts of fish, lobsters, and sting rays.
Next door to the complex was the Royal Palms beach club. We we loved having this next door because it was a great place to stop into for a quick bite to eat and a drink! Monday’s is their happy hour night with half off pretty much everything from 5 – 7. They also have a beach party on Wednesday nights.
The condo is located right in the heart of Seven Mile beach and there are tons of restaurants, bars and grocery stores within walking distance. We did rent a car while we were there for daytime adventures. However, at night we walked to whatever restaurant we had chosen so we didn’t have to worry about enjoying a few beverages and driving. I’ll cover my activity and restaurant recommendations in a future post.
Customer Service
The owner of the condo, Kathy, was amazingly responsive. She answered all my questions leading up to our vacation. She also provided us with a comprehensive guide to Grand Cayman. She texted me when we arrived to make sure everything was going well. When our flight was delayed she also allowed us to stay in the condo an extra couple hours. We couldn’t have asked for a better customer experience!
