Last summer on our way home from Fogo Island we spent one night in Port Rexton. Our main reason for heading there was to visit Port Rexton Brewing Co. Port Rexton Brewing is a really popular craft brewery in Newfoundland. I feel like last summer everyone I know visited Port Rexton Brewing so of course I wanted to check it out myself. Port Rexton is located on the Bonavista Peninsula, near Bonavista and Trinity.
Port Rexton Travel Guide
Where We Stayed
We stayed at the Sherwood Suites and it was the absolutely perfect place to stay. The individual units are simple but super clean and have everything you could possibly need. They are overlooking the water and I believe all them have patios. We chose an end unit with a nice big patio on the side overlooking the water. Sherwood Suites is also within walking distance to the brewery, bonus!
Things To Do
Port Rexton Brewing
This of course is the reason we visited, to check out Port Rexton Brewing. We headed to the tap room to do a sampling and it was awesome! The vibe is pure hipster and I loved it. They have board games and books. While they don’t serve food they have a food truck operated by Oh My Cheeses! We didn’t get to try it but I have only heard good things. We hung out here for a few hours the night we arrived. The next day we headed back to grab growlers and hang out in their garden for a final beverage!
Hike Skerwink Trail
If you are in the area, you have to hike Skerwink Trail! It is a relatively easy trail but the views are stunning. Looking at these pictures makes me so excited for summer hiking!
Places To Eat
Two Whales Coffee Shop
We had lunch at Two Whales Coffee Shop and it was delish! Two Whales is a vegetarian cafe but honestly even if you are an omnivore, everything is seriously so flavourful that you don’t even know you are missing meat!
We loved our time in Port Rexton, I swear everything on the Bonavista Peninsula is amazing! I know we will be back here for sure to visit again, likely this year for Ales and Trails! It’s also on my list to have a meal at the Fishers Loft Inn.
