Tomorrow marks the end of the first week of the 100 day project. For those of you that haven’t heard about it, the 100 day project is a global art project that anyone can participate in. You just do something creative for 100 days!
I am taking and editing one photo a day for the next 100 days. It doesn’t matter what the subject of the photo is I just have to take a picture of something, edit it and share it on social media. I didn’t want to give myself any more rules then that. I wanted to be open to whatever inspired me to get behind my lens. Why Am I Doing This?
I am really proud of how much I have embraced my creative side over the last couple years. This project is forcing me to do something creative everyday which is great for all areas of my creative life. I love learning new skills and approaches and I think this challenge will get the creative juices flowing.
Goals
- Complete the challenge: just completing this for 100 days is going to be tough and an accomplishment in itself! One of my favourite authors Gretchen Rubin says, what you do everyday matters more, then what you do once in a while. Words to live by.
- Take a online Lightroom course and improve my skills: I use all the basic functions of Lightroom but I’d like to learn the program inside and out.
- Notice interesting subjects: I am carrying my camera everywhere and forcing myself to look around for interesting shots. I want this challenge to force me to be present in my daily life and see the things around me that could be turned into beautiful photos.
- Get out and about more for photography adventures. I can be a bit of a homebody so I am hoping this forces me to get out a little more and photograph the world!
- Become a better photographer.
Thoughts So Far
Finding things to shoot on weekdays is hard! When I come home from work, I am exhausted and wandering around the house trying to find something to take a picture of. On the weekends I am more likely to go take a photo adventure somewhere. I am hoping to spend some lunchtimes at work going on photo adventures and getting outside now that the weather is improving. Also, I need to start a running photo list idea in my get to work book.
I will check in (hopefully) at the end of the project with an update on how it went. Follow along with the project here! Also, consider starting your own 100 day project, it’s never too late!
